The vMDOC is designed for fast development and deployment into either a commercial cloud environment, or a high side environment at very large scales. To optimize the management of the development, vMDOC utilizes Government Open Source Software (GOSS), Open Source Non-GPL software, and software applications that already exist on the DoD Approved Product Lists (APL). LinQuest has already expended funds on IRAD efforts for the vMDOC and an instantiation of its own multi-tenant compute cloud (MTCC) in a risk burn down effort, thus accelerating the vMDOC project. Platform as a service (PaaS) clusters are built and cloned as required from prebuilt golden images that inherit their security postures from the underlying platforms. In turn, analytics built on top of the PaaSs will also inherit the security posture of the PaaSs themselves. Once the core vMDOC is built, extending it for scale is straightforward.
vMDOC allows for ingestion from any data source using standard and non-standard formats using the MTCC’s data broker framework (DBF). Common payloads (XML, JSON, Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), etc.) are straightforward to ingest. Data may be ‘cracked’ open for further data processing (e.g., NSA’s Open Source “Emissary”). The MTCC uses Hadoop distributed files systems on standard Linux VMs. It is stored compressed and encrypted. The MTCC’s DBF brokers multiple data sources with scheduled, streaming, batch, etc, integrations.
